Edelrid Giga Jul
The Giga Jul is a passive assisted-braking device from Edelrid with a guide mode; it weighs 121 g and lowering is released by hand at the device, with no lever. Rated for single, half and twin ropes from 7.1 to 10 mm, with two rope slots. It rappels on one or two strands. In stock at 41 shops from 45.50 EUR.
A tube and assisted-braking tube in one: a mechanism switches the assisted braking on or off, for situation-dependent belaying and abseiling, especially in alpine terrain. Approved rope diameter 7.1 to 10 mm. Guide mode brings up one or two seconds and abseils on a doubled rope; assisted-braking guide mode adds a brake boost when catching a leader fall; a small eyelet releases the device with a carabiner, and holding the device open with the thumb pays rope out faster. Aluminium body with stainless steel where it wears. 121 g; EN 15151-2.
