Petzl GriGri+
The GriGri+ is a mechanically assisted-braking device from Petzl; it weighs 200 g and lowering is controlled with a lever at 3:1 mechanical advantage. Rated for single ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm (8.9 to 10.5 mm optimal), with one rope slot. It has an anti-panic function and a lead/top-rope switch and rappels on a single strand. Petzl's cam-assisted belay device with an anti-panic handle, optimised for top-rope belaying and for learning: if the handle is pulled too hard while lowering, the anti-panic function stops the rope. ASSIST+ mode pre-activates the cam for top-rope belaying, making it easier to take in slack; lead mode is the alternative setting.
