CAMP Matik
The Matik is a mechanically assisted-braking device from CAMP; it weighs 276 g and lowering is controlled with a lever. Rated for single ropes from 8.6 to 10.2 mm, with one rope slot. It has an anti-panic function and rappels on a single strand. In stock at 11 shops from 82.99 EUR.
CAMP's assisted-braking belay and lowering device for single dynamic ropes of 8.6 to 10.2 mm. The cam rotates into line with the rope before it locks, which enlarges the contact area, lets the rope slip slightly and reduces the impact force on climber, belayer and anchor. An anti-panic system re-engages the cam if the lowering lever is opened too far or too fast, and the device cannot take a carabiner until it is fully closed. 276 g; hot-forged aluminium body with precision-cast stainless steel where the rope runs; EN 15151-1 and UIAA 129.
