Salewa Ergo Belay System

Salewa's assisted-braking belay device for single ropes of 8.6 to 11 mm, for lead and top-rope belaying indoors and out. It has no lever or cam: it conforms to EN 15151-2 as a Type 2 device, the assisted blocking comes from the device geometry, and the climber is lowered by pressing the device forward with the free hand while the brake hand controls the rope. Salewa states the design keeps the brake hand on the rope and pays out rope without blocking. 170 g, 7075-T6 aluminium; supplied with, and to be used only with, the Salewa Belay Twist Lock carabiner.
