Mad Rock Remora LV
Mad Rock
Moderate downturn provides versatility across varied terrain and multiple climbing disciplines. Science Friction 3.0 with slipper closure and soft feel creates reliable grip and responsive feedback. Low-volume construction locks your foot in place, rewarding precise footwork on technical terrain.
Best For
Best for bouldering and sport climbing on vertical and overhang terrain. Aimed at beginner to intermediate climbers.
Strengths & Trade-offs
Strengths
- Profile covers the typical range of gym wall angles
- Slip-on simplicity with elastic tension
- Rubber splits the difference between sticky and durable
- Soft feel gives direct feedback from the rock
Trade-offs
- Very little give in the upper - get the size right first time
Sizing & Fit
Size down half a size. The Remora is one of only two Mad Rock models with a sizing exception: every fit tier sits half a size below the rest of the line (performance = measured size - 0.5, snug = measured size, comfort + 0.5). Mad Rock attributes this to the slipper's construction and stretch. Mad Rock sizes close to US street size. LV version for narrow feet and low insteps.
Fit profile: narrow width, low forefoot volume, narrow heel, suits greek and roman toe shapes.
Expect roughly half a size of stretch; minimal break-in.
Stiffness
Measured stiffness: 0.26 on our 0-1 scale (0 = softest). Among slightly downturned shoes it sits between the Lowa Parrot VCR (0.23, softer) and the La Sportiva Cobra (0.30, stiffer).
