Mad Rock Remora HV

Mad Rock

Slight downturn provides versatility across varied terrain and multiple climbing disciplines. Science Friction 3.0 with slipper closure and soft feel creates reliable grip and responsive feedback. High-volume design offers all-day comfort without sacrificing the performance you need on hard pitches.

Best For

Best for bouldering and sport climbing on vertical and overhang terrain. Aimed at beginner to intermediate climbers.

Strengths & Trade-offs

Strengths

  • Slight aggression that won't end your session early
  • Quick to get on and off, no fiddling with straps
  • Medium-hardness rubber balances grip and durability
  • Soft feel gives direct feedback from the rock

Trade-offs

  • Extra volume reduces precision on small holds

Sizing & Fit

Size down half a size. The Remora is one of only two Mad Rock models with a sizing exception: every fit tier sits half a size below the rest of the line (performance = measured size - 0.5, snug = measured size, comfort + 0.5). Mad Rock attributes this to the slipper's construction and stretch. Mad Rock sizes close to US street size. HV version for wider feet and higher insteps.

Fit profile: wide width, high forefoot volume, wide heel, suits greek and roman toe shapes.

Expect roughly half a size of stretch; minimal break-in.

Stiffness

Measured stiffness: 0.26 on our 0-1 scale (0 = softest). Among slightly downturned shoes it sits between the Lowa Parrot VCR (0.23, softer) and the La Sportiva Cobra (0.30, stiffer).
